Port of Long Beach Interactive Museum

Sitara Systems, in collaboration with Cinnabar California and Faculty, designed and produced 5 interactive experiences that highlight the Port’s role as the greenest container port in the world, as well as a major US-Asia gateway for products around the world.

As a part of the Long Beach Civic Center Redevelopment Plan, the Port of Long Beach constructed a new headquarters in downtown Long Beach, complete with a museum dedicated to conveying the Port’s mission and story through immersive digital experiences. The Port sought to create a series of digital interactives that could be used for a variety of purposes, including general business guests, dignitary visits, and special events.

These touch-free interactives showcase the Port’s sustainability targets and beneficial impacts through multimedia storytelling, complete with a custom-built content management system that allows the Port to update content as it meets current targets and sets new ones over the course of the next 40 years.

Due to their position as a major US-Asia gateway, the Port was looking for user interfaces that are highly hygienic and can satisfy the needs and concerns of a variety of global visitors.

To satisfy this need, Sitara Systems designed gestural interfaces for touch-free control activation of media interactives in the space. These interactives utilize an UltraLeap sensor to track visitors’ hands, allowing them to seamlessly experience all multimedia without touching a display.
