Volcano Discovery Center Interactive Projection Map — Valles Caldera National Preserve — Volcano Discovery Center
The Volcano Discovery Center at Valles Caldera National Preserve near Jemez Springs, New Mexico, opened July 25, 2025, with a 12-foot CNC-milled topographic relief map as a projection-mapping centerpiece, designed, fabricated, and built by Ideum in collaboration with the National Park Service and area tribes and pueblos.

Description
A 4K, 13,000-lumen projector animates sequences across the milled and scenically painted relief map, paired with synchronized RGB wall lighting and a 6.1 surround-sound system. Four 34" touchscreen stations around the map's perimeter let visitors control content across four themes (cultural history, geology, ecology, and scientific discovery); a separate touch display at the preserve's Welcome Station provides orientation information.
